You might be wondering why a person decides to boil surprise jewelry on TikTok.

I came into this organization with eyes wide open. I've read the statistics. I know that only 1/3 of Fizzers turn a profit, and the profits are often barely breaking even...especially after gifties.

So why does anyone do this???

I need you to believe that you can dedicate your time to a goal or hobby ... just for fun.

I enjoy fizzing sparkly surprises on TT and sharing them with my fellow Glowgetters (iykyk). Costume jewelry has always been my hobby; I've just never found a retailer who is both an inspiration and a friend. I know the critics will call that emotional exploitation, but hear me out: Maybe its excitement?!

I know what you're gonna say, BP is a corporate MLMonster preying on the emotions of women desperate for validation. But tell me which of your favorite vendors isn't preying on your emotions? Disney, making you cry in the theater with your 6 year old? Your pharmaceutical supplier, convincing you to buy good health and longevity? Tiffany? Chanel? Every Kiss begins with Kay? Even bandaid brand is tugging on your heartstrings to get you to put your hand in your pocket.

We're so afraid to engage in business with real people. As though the emotional connection to other MLMers will overcome all reason and logic in a way that a Disney firework display never could...

Is it so bad to direct my resources into a real person instead of Target?

...a person who feels joy when they hear my little order "ding" during their LIVE?

Is it so evil if that joy never leads to profit...

The crux of the issue for me, is informed consent. Did you read your contracts? Did you review the Income Disclosure Statement? (it's not good for the reps, FYI) Did you organize a schedule of inventory and costs?

Do you even care? 'Cause guess what girls, you can be here for nothing more than FUN.

At the end of the day, I'm going to buy something sparkly, or cozy, or fun. I might as well get my shopping fix from one of my "fizzters."

Material Lover

One of my most prized possessions is a long strand of Chanel pearls that I bought my very first year out of law school, working for a big corporate defense firm. I felt so special, so powerful, so successful. I wore that necklace to work every day for years. I cherished those pearls...I still do. I sent her off to the special Chanel repair shop to get her re-strung the few times she broke (yes thats a thing and it is free.) And eventually...I stopped wearing her altogether, because I was afraid she would break permanently. She is a beautiful heirloom piece collecting dust on my vanity, so that she survives long enough for my daughter to wear her. Because its just not going to work out with two toddlers tugging all over me.

That's the thing about costume jewelry. My kids can play with it. I can break it. It can fall between the cracks of the couch where I'll never find it again. It can go in and out of style. And it doesn't really matter, because it did not cost half of my paycheck to acquire it. I can dress up like my fancy maximalist sparking self and know that if something falls off on the subway, I won't be crying over it. I'll just go in for a new sparkle, and treat myself.

Want to know a secret about my pearls? They aren't even genuine pearls. The jewels that normal consumers can purchase from Chanel are part of their "fashion jewelry" line - which is to say it is not genuine gold or gemstones. No real pearls. Unless you find yourself in the "high jewelry" line for which prices are not listed online, generally require a special appointment, and often run in the tens or hundreds of thousands range $$$$$ (we're talking Pharrell money, not lawyer money.) So you are truly just paying for a brand name. A logo. A brag.

At this point in my life - perhaps because I've had the great fortune to own luxury, or perhaps because I've grown to cherish more meaningful material things - I am collecting cheap fashion jewelry that looks and feels exactly like the "genuine luxury" jewels on Fifth Avenue.

Jewelry is special because of the memories we associate with it & the memories we make with it. My Grandmother's wedding band, that would sell for peanuts today, but cost my Grandfather every dollar in his pocket - priceless. My pearl necklace that reminds me of working for Chanel Inc. and my first years practicing law - priceless. My Halo moonstone diamond that I fizzed with my Fizzters on TT LIVE, when everyone in the whole chat cried tears of genuine happiness - priceless.

FRIENDSHIP

You've Got a Friend

Nobody was a bigger skeptic of MLM culture than I was...before I met the Glowgetters. This group of women is constantly boosting each other up, cheering each other on, and genuinely caring for each other in all aspects of life. BP is more than jewelry for the Glowgetters. To Alex' credit, she really built a community of genuinely kind people who not only want to see you win, but root for you (and defend you against anyone that might come in your way...looking at you, Fedex Dylan!) These people will literally take the earrings out of their ear holes for you.

People crave genuine connection. This group miraculously found each other through the TT labyrinth, maybe because the algorithm knew we all needed each other. Or maybe we all knew we just needed something for ourselves right now, and we ended up with this huge support net of Fizzters and Glammas and Fizz Neices and Fizz Cousins... people I never knew before... people who care about me...in real life. And I think that's the most valuable diamond of all.
